The Cow from Aso Rock…

I had a cow from the Presidency. I didn’t ask for it. They dropped it at the Save Nigeria Group office,” he said. He queried, “Is it cow that we need? If you check their books, one cow could have been bought for $5,000. The rest of the money is pocketed. They prevailed on me not to return it. Thanks for the cow, but no thanks”.

A former Vice Presidential candidate Pastor Tunde Bakare of The Latter Rain Assembly refused the Christmas cow sent to him from the presidency via Save Nigeria Group office. He wants to give it away since some people told him not to return it to the President in Aso Rock. Now, it would cost him money to send it back; which would be a waste of money.

This is not the first time that President Jonathan has tried to bribe the Save Nigeria Group. He once gave the group $50,000 on its visit to Aso Rock and Save Nigeria Group politely refused the money. Is that how much most visitors are given? Of course, very few visitors would refuse to accept $50,000.

Millions of Nigerians are suffering and the presidency prefers to give fat cows away to rich people instead of the poor. Bakare is not a poor man and did not need a free cow. Rich Nigerians do not kill turkeys to celebrate Christmas instead they kill fat cows. To make the matter worse the Federal Government hopes to spend N1.52b for the maintenance of aircraft and deposit N1.5 billion on 11th aircraft this year.

The Vice President Namadi Sambo wants to upgrade his official condo for N2.1 billion. Wow! Why can’t the Federal Government spend at least N1 million on each Nigerian out of the lump some? N175 million on Nigerians is worth it than N2.1 billion on house upgrade for one person. The Vice President went too far and it may be better for Nigerians in the Diaspora to send him fairly used furniture (free-of-charge) instead. His official residence should not look like a Hollywood star’s crib because he was not elected to live in luxury at the expense of the masses.

The Presidency has turned aeroplanes into toys. Jonathan hopes to fight corruption in 2014 but he has not shown a good example. May god help Nigerians in 2014! Amen! No wonder a large percentage of Nigerians from different religions rely on god; they may have lost hope in the Federal Government.
