The ‘Governor’ of Nigerian Governors (15)

By Danielle Lobito

Rivers State Legislator Evans Bipi is the Presidential thug who plotted his second attempt to impeach Governor Rotimi Amaechi this year but failed blatantly when the police did not allow lawmakers to enter Rivers State House of Assembly last Thursday.

It will be recalled that Bipi claimed that the President’s wife Patience Jonathan is his mother and Jesus Christ on earth. Mrs Jonathan currently wants to be known as ‘Mama Peace’ when her relative and political son is disrupting legislative activities in Rivers State. As far as we are concerned, she is Our Lady of Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

According to media reports, the police fired bullets and teargas and wounded a few people in the process of trying to stop the lawmakers from entering the State House of Assembly. PDP lawmaker Bipi was unable to accept the influx of APC in the political landscape. Governors called the ‘G7’ including Amaechi moved from PDP to APC therefore more PDP members will defect to APC.

The G7 asked President Goodluck Jonathan to 'sack' the chairman of PDP Bamanga Tukur but he refused to. Jonathan assumed that one Tukur was bigger than seven governors just as he defended the dubious calculation that 16 governors were more than 19 governors in the Nigeria Governors’ Forum election that later created the G7 in the first instance. Initially:

The G7- governors of Niger (Babangida Aliyu), Kwara (Abdulfatah Ahmed), Sokoto (Aliyu Wamakko), Adamawa (Murtala Nyako), Jigawa (Sule Lamido), Kano (Musa Kwankwaso), and Rivers (Rotimi Amaechi) – are opposed to Bamanga Tukur as the national chairman of the PDP; and are also reportedly opposed to the planned re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015. They are currently members of the Abubakar Baraje-led faction of the PDP and have been wooed by the All Progressives Congress to join the opposition party.

President Goodluck Jonathan and former President Olusegun Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo aka the Oracle of Ota sent a letter which we dubbed the Epistle from Ota to his successor and protégé President Goodluck Jonathan. The letter led to a disagreement between the supporters of Obasanjo and Jonathan. It also led to media rivalry between the online media and print media on accusation of 'plagiarism' or lack of acknowledgment.

Jonathan ordered his spin doctors not to reply his mentor Obasanjo on the 18-page letter since he intends to respond later after Dr Reuben Abati made a comment, but Obasanjo told Jonathan to keep his reply. However, the ‘warring’ Presidents later met in Kenya. Copies of the 18-page letter are available on the internet. Gbosa!
