Christmas not ‘Stress-mas’ says Archbishop of York

The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dr John Sentamu[/URL]

The first black Archbishop in the Church of England and 97th Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu says in The SUN 'Christmas article' that thinking of others matter than how much we spend to celebrate Christmas. In fact, the Lord Archbishop of York is going to cook his family’s Xmas dinner today, after going to church. Below is the transcript of his YouTube message. He says we should remember that Christmas is not 'Stress-mas'.

Thank you for taking the time to watch this short message.

We live in a virtual world where we have things like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter – all wonderful inventions that can help us communicate. But let us never forget that what is most important is having time for other people.

When God created the world he said, "It is better to be God with human beings around." We weren't created to be isolated individuals. Human beings were made to be a family, with God as our father, who loves us.

And that's why at Christmas he sent his Son to live amongst us, to share our lives and to remind us about his love.

We fill our lives with so many trivial things that we often fail to value what is important. Remember it is Christmas not "Stress-mas"! Take things slower and appreciate what God has given you.

Merry Christmas and have a wonderful New Year!
