Reality TV star Jade Goody is getting married (tomorrow) to Jack Tweed who was recently released from a prison sentence for assault. Harrods donated her wedding gown worth £3,500. Cancer stricken Jade is getting married in order to raise money for her two sons ages 4 and 5 because she has less than '12 weeks' to live. Prime Minister Gordon Brown commended Jade for her 'determination to help her family'. According to the media, she is likely to make about £1million from the wedding coverage. Ok! Magazine is to pay her £700,000 after publishing her wedding and family photographs. Journalists ‘will’ film Jade until she takes her last breath so that her fans can watch her die on TV. Despite the fact that the quarter Nigerian star is dying some people are hell bent on making her last days on earth hell. A website was erected to make a mockery of her terminal illness and the medical diagnosis of her upcoming death. Critics against the media coverage wonder if Jade’s burial would be as grand as that of Princess Diana.
Some people disliked 27 year old Jade because they saw her as an opportunist who made it as a celebrity and a young entrepreneur who was far from intelligent. She was brought up in South London by a disabled single mum who had an accident and she sometimes missed school to look after her mum. Her late father went to prison for robbery and she claimed that she smoked cannabis at age five. Unable to answer some questions correctly on TV allowed several viewers to visualize her as a dumb blonde especially when she had her hair dyed blonde. It was very difficult for the former dental assistant to get out of the dumb blonde media image since nobody wanted to be identified with a 'failure'. This morning, a black girl said on a satellite TV show that Jade Goody used to irritate her and was the most annoying person. The last straw that broke the camel's back was when Jade bullied Indian Bollywood Actress Shilpa Shetty with other celebrity Big Brother housemates and later apologized in tears. Whatever her misdeed people should forgive Jade and allow her to die in peace because nobody is perfect… Dying TV star Jade Goody marries – BBC
US Ambassadorial Nonsense
Every Nigerian including (the sacker) President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua had a lot to learn from the way Nigeria's Ambassador to the US, retired Brigadier-General Oluwole Rotimi got the boot and was told to return to Nigeria for gross insubordination. The question is as simple as ABC… Was the sacking of Rotimi actually for gross insubordination or power tussle? The Minister of Foreign Affairs Ojo Maduekwe, sorry Ojo weliweli (synonymous with the Yoruba film OLEKU) was the bone of contention in the matter. Ojo weliweli has ‘proved’ that he can ‘recommend’ the sacking of any Nigerian Ambassador and all Ambassadors are watching with keen interest. It is like a precedent. It is also like the Yoruba adage which warns the new wife of the old horse whip neatly kept in the attic for her aka Papá t í a mú ná ěyaalé, o n b laja fun iyawo. Who’s next?
Anybody regardless of race or tribe would blame Rotimi for making negative statements against Biafra because it was uncalled for. It was unfair on people who lost members of their families and properties in the Biafran war without compensation but did Rotimi mean all he said? Recently he said the allegations against him were distorted but ‘everyone’ would love to see the proof or copy of the letter. Nevertheless, he has apologized to people associated with Biafra and Biafrans. People may like to know if Maduekwe and Rotimi had past grievances which could have been the underground motive for their disaffection for one another because the reasons given by both of them were more or less childish and baseless. Rotimi went too far but it seemed as if Maduekwe knew Rotimi’s weakness which was lack of patience and ‘acted’ on it… According to the media, Maduekwe said in a letter to the president: This man (Rotimi) has no temperament to be an ambassador of Nigeria in our most important mission. Maduekwe accused Rotimi of calling him a 'tribalist’ but he has not denied the Saharareporters tribal allegations levelled against him by Professor Mobolaji Aluko.
