The ‘Governor’ of Nigerian Governors (5)

By Matthew Mahmood

We were about to express our discontent on the high handedness of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman Alhaji Bamaga Tukur until he did a glorious U-turn as a witch hunter. We could not believe that he ordered the suspension of Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko because Wamakko refused to answer his phone calls. Petty? All of a sudden, we were surprised that Tukur allowed the PDP to recall Wamakko.

Our question is as simple as ABC? Why has the PDP not recalled Governor Rotimi Amaechi? Of course, Amaechi’s suspension was ordered by the Presidency. Wamakko was victimized for different reasons apart from supporting Amaechi during the Nigeria Governors’ Forum election which Amaechi won and imposter Jang lost.

Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State previously said that the suspension of Amaechi and Wamakko is a costly mistake for the PDP. Seven governors including Amaechi and Wamakko formed the 'Third Force' which was highly intimidating to the rest of PDP. At least Tukur left Wamakko alone therefore why can’t President Goodluck Jonathan and Mrs Patience Jonathan leave Amaechi alone?

Another supporter of Amaechi, Governor Adams Oshiomole also saw the wrath of the witch hunters which were linked to the Presidency and the PDP. Oshiomole’s spokesman Kazeem Afegbua told the CEO of BEN TV Alistair Shoyode on BEN TV (Sky Channel 182) that Oshiomole’s helicopter was detained for over an hour therefore Oshiomole had to abandon the aircraft in order to attend to his duties as the Governor of Edo State. It was a shameful scenario which was planned to embarrass Oshiomole who prefers to remain diplomatic rather than argue with the Presidency and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency. It will be recalled that Amaechi’s official airplane was grounded in a similar manner aka power show!

Recently, Patience Jonathan became the leading Witch Hunter aka ‘Hunter Queen’ from Aso Rock Presidential Villa. Instead of the First Lady to relocate to Bayelsa State where she is a permanent secretary that gets paid for farting and making a mockery of a non functionary position, she relocated to Port Harcourt in order to launch the impeachment process of Governor Amaechi in the corridors of power with millions of freebies. Her alleged intention was to unseat Amaechi within 11 days.

The First Lady’s spokesman should have corrected the First Lady be telling her that the entire country is not her constituency as she claimed. Even if she was voted into office, she would not be able to claim that the entire country was her constituency. Should she visit any part of the country at will or by invitation or protocol? Does that mean that she is not on an ‘official’ visit to Rivers State? In that case, the state government should not be responsible for her upkeep or protect her while she is in the state to cause trouble as the ‘Hunter Queen’.

Alhaji Tukur has shown good leadership by taking Wamakko back into the PDP despite the fact that he paved way for Wamakko’s initial suspension and threatened that other Governors may also be suspended while the PDP threatened to expel Amaechi and Wamakko.

May we ask why Jonathan changed his mind on sacking Tukur for taking Wamakko back? Tukur is more powerful than Jonathan thought. It would probably have led to Jonathan’s impeachment debate. Coincidentally, the House of Representatives had a debate on a bill to fast-track the impeachment process of the President and Vice-President and claimed that it was not for Jonathan’s administration. If the bill escapes the final reading; we hope the president would sign it into law although nobody would want to sign his own‘death warrant’. It would be good riddance to bad ‘yeye’ rubbish.

A Lawyer and defender of the bill, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila of ACN, who was accused of issuing a dude check in the US, said he would shoot the motion down. It will be recalled that he fought in favour of the Etekete saga that led to the resignation of hairdresser cum Speaker Patricia Olubunmi Etteh in 2007. He has continued to support most negative causes since then. Gbaja ko Roger Milla ni! He might as well join PDP with the way he is going.

As for 'Jang and the Gang' like the American disco band ‘Kool & the Gang’, the illegal meeting of 16 Jaguda gang members has showed that Jang and his cohorts are liars. They lied that Jang scored more than 16 votes. They also lied that Jang later got the support of 19 Jang Gang members. Why is the gang now 16? Jang is either a liar or simply suffering from amnesia and needs medical attention. He is not competent to lead the NGF and Plateau State.

Why can’t the ‘Hunter Queen’ and other witch hunters borrow a leaf from Tukur? We hope PDP members would emulate Tukur’s footsteps after a bitter feud instead of harbouring the relics of the battle of Okrika like Patience Jonathan and the 20 year old pounded yam of Yoruba adage that remains very hot in the form of revenge. The battle of Okrika was a confrontation where Amaechi was scolded like a house boy. A state governor is not a First Lady’s house boy or toy. Such nonsense should never happen again!

"The Australian prime minister has again been forced to confront sexism in the country's politics after it emerged that the menu at an opposition fundraising dinner offered "Julia Gillard quail … with small breasts, huge thighs and a big red box."
The Guardian

The prime minister described me as a fat man in parliament not that long ago. I don’t think the prime minster is qualified to make these sort of comments and I would urge her to focus on running the nation, to deal with the issues that matter to Australians.”
Australian Times

According to the broadcast media, she said that the shadow treasurer Joe Hockey should look into the mirror. Did she really call him a fat man? Come on! Anyway, ‘huge thighs’ can also be classified as fat thighs. Prime Minister Julia Gillard should not have lost her temper in parliament but these male chauvinists went too far in order to make fun of her.
