Merry Christmas

By Danielle Lobito

We came across a TV production crew in London. They asked if the kids would like to appear in a Channel 4 TV documentary on unemployed British men who were looking for employment as trained Santa Clauses. The kids were ecstatic but when we were told that we had to fill forms, sign documents and the filming process could be over an hour, we opted out.

We did not plan a recording session that day. The kids began to 'wear' long faces and were disappointed. We did not have the time to explain to the behind-the-scene guy that we would actually have to get the consent of one of the children’s parents too. Another problem?

Nevertheless, Bad Santas, the two part reality show was shown on 17 and 18 December at 9pm. We thought it would be shown at an earlier date as we were told. It was interesting. We wish the production crew and Santa participants Merry Christmas. It was a job well done!

Birmingham based Bishop Melvin A. Brooks and his wife Pastor (Mrs) Yvonne Brooks made some viewers laugh on Christmas Eve; on Lasting Love with Funmi Adeyi (OHTV – Sky Channel 199). Adeyi asked Bishop Brooks if he had ever fallen for another woman apart from his wife. He said yes and his wife later covered her face with her hand because she was surprised and embarrassed.

The Bishop who previously suffered from prostate cancer ‘is the Senior Pastor of New Jerusalem Apostolic Church, and the Presiding Bishop of Jabula Europe and Asia.’ He confessed that he fell for the other woman because she did not argue with him like his wife. Bishop Brooks probably made some nagging wives realize how nagging can lead men astray. Most men hate the nagging side of women.

He jokingly said that his wife‘killed’ the other woman. He actually meant that she got rid of his satellite navigation aka Satnav. However, he did not have an affair. Pastor (Mrs) Brooks was calm and explained that you don’t need to have an affair before committing adultery. Nevertheless, the lovely couple thoroughly understood each other to be married for 34 years. It was the Christmas edition of the programme.
