Being a pastor’s wife 'must' be a huge responsibility. Most congregants of Rev. Chris Okotie’s Lagos based church knew that Stephanie Henshaw was a widow and mother of three children before he claimed that god told him to marry her after committing adultery with her for several years. The congregants were against the wedding in the first instance.
Who told him to ‘divorce’ Stephanie after four years of marriage or end his second marriage? Did god also tell him to take two cars away from her so that she could lose her social class and economic status? He later called her a Jezebel. Years before he married Stephanie, he allegedly had a love child. Was it god that told him not to do a DNA test and abandon the poor child? After all, he is a law graduate.
Some years ago, the family of former beauty queen Vien Tetsola waited in vain for a traditional wedding ceremony that never took place because Rev. Chris okotie refused to turn up. He turned Vien into a laughing stock in her village. Was it god who told him to plan a wedding he knew he would not attend? She wasted years dating Okotie instead of going back to her ex-boyfriend Afro hip hop star Tuface Idibia, who is now married to actress Annie Macaulay and has 'baby mamas'. Vien is single. The popular song African Queen was probably his ultimate feeling for Vien Tetsola.
Rev. Okotie’s first wife Tina returned to the US after 16 years of barrenness, allegedly remarried and became a mother. Has it occurred to anybody that Okotie is very smart and could be using women to ‘hide’ his major problem of low sperm count or sterility? Stephanie was unable to conceive for four years and Okotie had to leave her in order to please his congregation rather than explain that it may not be her fault.
Any congregation that cannot face its general overseer, ask fundamental questions, but contribute to the downfall of the general overseer's marriage may be a congregation of ‘sinners’.

If your pastor’s wife is like Mrs Bimbo Fola-Alade you may not know how lucky you are. Not all pastor’s wives have moral education or good home training like her. She is unlikely to find any congregant intimidating. She is a lawyer cum property expert and pastor. In fact, she is the daughter of a Nigerian business mogul. Her husband, Pastor Sola Fola-Alade is a medical doctor cum pastor and publisher. His father is a distinguished architect and entrepreneur.
Dr Sola Fola-Alade is a prominent TV pastor on different channels e.g., BEN TV and OHTV. He has an MBA and always advises his congregation to be prepared for changes in life by updating themselves educationally. In a way, his London based Trinity Chapel (RCCG) ministry may be more suitable for entrepreneurs and people willing to start businesses or become self employed.
Some years ago, a congregation watched mercilessly as a pastor’s wife ran her mouth like diarrhoea in a Nigerian church. The pastor was away therefore she took advantage to say things she dared not utter in his presence. She launched a verbal indirect attack on a female entrepreneur. The shameless sermon was on congregants that had repeated accidents. The pastor’s wife claimed it was because they were not paying their tithes properly. The atmosphere became tensed and it was obvious that the attack was fashioned at the entrepreneur.
People really pitied the entrepreneur who kept mute like a fool throughout the malicious sermon. She looked mummified in her seat and was gobsmacked. The pastor’s wife was actually angry and jealous because the entrepreneur sent her husband presents without sending anything to her. She mistook the presents as a sign of romance with her husband. The sermon of hatred was to scare the entrepreneur away from the church but nay.
Some pastors’ wives believe that you must like them as much as their husbands no matter what. Pastor Yemisi Ashimolowo once said that a church member cannot become her husband’s friend without becoming her friend and people laughed. It was very funny. Another pastor’s wife made a similar statement on ‘Lasting Love with Funmi Adeyi’ TV show. How would they react to what a pastor’s wife did to an entrepreneur?
Nevertheless, if you are planning to give a Christmas present to your pastor, you might as well give one to his wife too. Of course, the choice is yours. It is not compulsory. Merry Christmas in advance!
