Babangida and Obasanjo
People that thought the scenario was very funny may want to congratulate our former Nigerian leaders, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida aka IBB and Olusegun Obasanjo aka Obj on their fresh verbal war; on the pages of Nigerian newspapers.
IBB, who was a military president (1985 – 1993) criticized OBJ’s tenure as a civilian president (1999 – 2007). Obj also became a military head of state in 1976 after the assassination of his boss Murtala Muhammed. Obj, 74, replied and called IBB a fool at 70. IBB clocked 70 on August 17. IBB fired another salvo by calling Obj, ‘a greater fool’. This is indeed a foolish battle. In fact, it is shameful to see African elders disagree in such a despicable manner.
This is not the first time that both influential members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party and former army colleagues sowed discord. The retired generals normally 'bury the hatchet' when one of them decides to visit the other, attend a social function or celebration in the other’s domain. Their various supporters are the ones who normally end up looking like fools.
If these master 'coupists' cum 'billionaire' grandfathers are bored, they could approach reputable publicists for event and educational jobs worldwide. IBB could become a public speaker or university guest lecturer as Africa’s renowned coup expert and give his fees to charity. Special envoy Obj could set up a charity to help young people who are interested in farming as a very successful farmer. No, this is nothing to do with Obj’s past ‘Operation Feed the Nation’ initiative.

Revolutionary Rebels Take Over Green Square
Embattled Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, 69, called the rebels, 'rats' that would be eliminated. The so called ‘rats’ are now in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. They chased Gaddafi’s supporters out of Green Square yet Gaddafi has refused to step down and intends to fight to the end.
Where is the African Union (AU)? Gaddafi should be repeatedly advised to go into exile or surrender as soon as possible. Last March, the union claimed that it was not consulted on the Libyan crisis.
A few months later, AU 'told' Gaddafi to step down and Western leaders have also called for Gaddafi to relinquish power. Although Gaddafi is addressed as a leader, 'life presidency' is outdated in modern times.
