I am the same Jega as when I took up the appointment. I came into the job with my eyes wide open, and my eyes are still very wide open.

Professor Jega
Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega was interviewed on BEN TV (Sky Channel 184) last week by Flower Omowaleola. Repeat broadcast of the interview was shown last weekend and this week.
Jega missed the recent United Kingdom alternative vote referendum; where 67.9% voted No and 32.1% voted yes. Perhaps Jega could have learnt a thing or two from the voting reform referendum. The alternative voting system failed to convince a large section of the electorate.
Jega enjoyed a telephone session with Nigerians in the Diaspora. Despite technical hitches, most of them liked the way he conducted the recent elections in Nigeria. He was ‘diplomatic’ while answering a question on the youth ‘corpers’ that were slaughtered and roasted alive in the violent aftermath of the presidential election, in Northern Nigeria.
He spoke with confidence and looked as if he had put on a little bit of weight. What some men that watched the interview may want to know is Jega’s after shave ‘secret’ and daily menu because of his radiant and flawless skin, at the age of 54.
