No Debate, No Vote (2)

The truth of the matter is…
Great Nations are not built on good luck. They are built on experience, hard work and vision.

—Pastor Tunde Bakare,
CPC Vice-Presidential Candidate

Is President Goodluck Jonathan waving bye-bye?

Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Director General of the Jonathan/Sambo campaign organisation, Dr Dalhatu Sarki Tafida is a ‘former High Commissioner’ according to the Goodluck Jonathan 2011 website. The Nigeria High Commission (UK) website shows that Tafida is the High Commissioner. Who is fooling whom when the Federal Government of Nigeria has allowed Tafida to retain his diplomatic job?

In 2010, former Ambassador Mahmud Yahaya told the Peoples Daily that:

… Tafida, who is meant to be a servant of the nation, has become a servant of the party. So he should have announced his resignation, said his farewells to the foreign office and to the queen and come back and face his appointment as the campaign director.

The Nigerian Presidential Debate will be shown tomorrow on *NN24 at 6pm. President Goodluck Jonathan dribbled the masses by saying he would engage in a debate but chickened out and continued with political rallies across the nation. The Vice-President Namadi Sambo did not show up for the NN24 vice-presidential debate of March 11.

As a physician cum Spin Doctor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tafida should make sure that President Jonathan attends tomorrow’s debate otherwise he should represent the ‘incompetent’ president at the debate. If Jonathan does not want Tafida to represent him then he should hire another Spin Doctor as soon as possible.

Tafida should not put his years of experience in the civil service and legislature aside and dent his credibility as a politician simply because he wants to make sure that the PDP will win the presidential election at all costs.

Nevertheless, Tafida performed extremely well as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom until he became Jonathan’s spinmeister. If Jonathan or a chosen representative does not attend the debate then it would be better for the electorate not to vote for Jonathan/Sambo.

The way I look at it… The PDP is telling us, telling the Nigerian people that they don’t need their votes. They don’t need to convince them. They have their own methods…
—Chief John Odigie – Oyegun, All Nigeria Peoples Party vice-presidential candidate

It is obvious that the major political 'battle' should be between retired General Muhammadu Buhari (CPC) and ex-EFCC boss Mallam Nuhu Ribadu (ACN) and not between the aforementioned presidential candidates versus President Goodluck Jonathan (PDP). In a free and fair election Jonathan is unlikely to retain his seat.
*NN24 is on DStv Channel 414. Nigerian Presidential Debates by NN24 are internationally transmitted on BEN TV (Sky Channel 184).

Ribadu to recover $15b looted power funds

Nuhu Ribadu

Action Congress of Nigeria presidential candidate, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu intends to recover looted power supply funds of about $15 billion. Is that not a staggering amount? Different leaders and their cronies kept on raking their illegal share of the energy supply funds.

That is why Nigeria is in darkness 'most' of the time without continuous power supply. Nigeria needs constant electricity from renewable energy like Solar Energy. What of electricity from Wind Energy? Which would you prefer in Nigeria? Both? Nigeria could be on a higher list of Environmentally friendly or Eco-friendly nations with renewable energy.

In 2009, Diezani Allison-Madueke, the Mines and Steel Development Minister cum Petroleum Resources Minister and the Federal Government supported the use of coal to power electricity in Nigeria although 'Gross carbon dioxide emissions from coal usage are slightly more than those from petroleum and about double the amount from natural gas.’
