A 41-year-old woman, Mrs Catherine Sefunmi Urouna, has allegedly committed suicide by drinking some poisonous substance in protest of her husband's refusal to buy her an iPad device.
Her family of five was on Saturday morning thrown into mourning, even as the neighbours were shocked that a woman, who was happily married with children, could take such a nasty decision to take her own life over an iPad.

The Rizzoli & Isles star, who was 29 at the time of his death, "didn't drink or party," says a source, adding, "He was the opposite. Lee loved to travel and was always the first to tell everyone to take a breath and enjoy the beauty of life." He was always "gentle and unassuming," despite his early success, and didn't have the typical "look-at-me" attitude.
That said, those close to Young noticed things "really changed" a few years ago when he began practicing Yorùbá, an Africa-based religion which has a saying, "iku ya j'esin",meaning "death is preferable to ignominy." Some have questioned whether this means that suicide is an acceptable way to preserve personal or family honor in the face of public shame.

Yoruba is a language and culture of the Yoruba tribe from Nigeria. A lot of Yoruba people were shocked of the allegation that Yoruba is a religion because they had not heard of 'Yoruba religion' until Lee Thompson Young committed suicide. Is English a religion? They want to know who made Yoruba a religion and why? Yoruba people belong to different religions e.g., Ifa, Christianity and Islam.
To say that Yoruba is a religion could mean that Yoruba people are restricted to one religion that they may not belong to like Ifa which is the religion of some Yoruba people. The allegation is confusing! Yoruba mythology consists of gods and goddesses but it is not be enough to classify Yoruba as a religion. On the internet, there are various claims and counter claims by 'worshippers' of African religions.
If you practice ‘Yoruba religion’, it may be better for you to travel to south western Nigeria and find out facts about the new religion that you are practicing in order to verify whether Yoruba is a religion or not. You will discover that ‘Yoruba religion’ is unlikely to exist in Nigeria and neither are Yoruba people groomed to commit suicide. The creation of a Yoruba tourist board may be useful. It would generate revenue for Yoruba speaking states and 'correct' the distortion of Yoruba history and mythology e.g., the horrendous allegation of "iku ya j'esin", meaning" death is preferable to ignominy".
American actor Lee Thompson Young allegedly suffered from depression. He was not a party goer but a lot of Yoruba people are very social AKA Owambe party goers. Did he know the meaning of Owambe?:rip:
