Yesterday’s edition of Shoot The Messenger on VoxAfrica (Sky Channel 218; DStv Channel 191) was an unusual edition. Presenter Henry Bonsu said it was the most exhausting edition he had presented in four years. A former Conservative Mayor of Wandsworth Chief Lola Ayorinde and education consultant Professor Gus John literarily ‘jumped’ at each other’s throats. Nigerian born Chief Ayorinde and Guyanese born Professor Gus John had opposing political views on the late first female British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. She also disagreed with another male guest on the show. It was ‘explosive’.
In fact, we are unable to state some of what was said due to lack of accuracy because a recorded version of the programme is not on http://www.voxafrica.co.uk/stm/ as usual. This is the reason why some viewers may not be willing to miss specific editions of the programme. Shoot The Messenger is an hour programme shown twice on Sunday at 1pm and 7pm. A repeat broadcast is also shown on an alternative day.
Chief Ayorinde was defending the policies of Margaret Thatcher aka The Iron Lady while Professor Gus was denouncing such policies and the negative effect it had on a large majority of people especially black people in the UK. We hope VoxAfrica will show a repeat broadcast of the programme because it is a very important edition of Shoot The Messenger. At the same time, we are aware that there may be legal implications. Chief Ayorinde told her opponent to "withdraw" a statement which he made. He did not withdraw his comment. It will be recalled that Chief Ayorinde had another verbal clash with a popular Lagos Chief on BEN TV (Sky Channel 182) a few years ago. It was also verbally ‘explosive’.

***The Repeat broadcast of the ‘exhaustive’ edition of Shoot The Messenger was shown on 17 April 2013 at 9.30pm. It was also shown on 18 April 2013 at 8.00am. It would be aired again on 20 April 2013 at 5.30pm. Thank you! Shoot The Messenger is a weekly current affairs programme with a newspaper review segment on VoxAfrica (Sky Channel 218; DStv Channel 191) on Sunday at 1pm and 7pm.
Thatcher Funeral: Pockets Of Protests
Britain's Iron Lady laid to rest with full pomp
Margaret Thatcher: a mock funeral, a bonfire and decades of bitterness in mining towns
A man was contemplating dating a lady after they met. It was a relationship at the platonic stage because the lady did not want to rush into an affair but she liked him. In fact, he fell in love with her. One day, the lady received a strange phone call. All she could hear at the other end was a brawl between the man and his mother. It led to a big argument. The man kept on telling his mum that he wanted to marry the lady at all costs and his mum told him he cannot marry the lady. The argument heated up to unprintable words and the lady dropped the phone. She was deeply shocked.
The guy refused to tell the lady whether he deliberately or mistakenly called her. He tried to put the sad scenario behind him. The lady diplomatically broke up with him and later realised that she more than liked him but did not want anything to do with his extended family. She was badly hurt and moved on with her life. A year later, he asked the lady to start a fresh relationship with him and she ran away again.
