According to the Punch, Nigeria’s first female oil Minister and first woman OPEC minister, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke was allegedly flown out of Nigeria, for the medical treatment of 'an undisclosed ailment' in another country.
We initially suggested that the minister should appear on a London TV programme, where she was wanted and expected to speak with Nigerians in the Diaspora; in order to discuss issues relating to the Niger Delta region and the management of petroleum resources in Nigeria. We wish the minister a speedy recovery.
Only rich Nigerians or sponsored poor Nigerian patients can decide to travel to foreign countries for treatment. In critical conditions, most patients die because of lack of hospital equipments, facilities and money to pay medical bills. During the upcoming elections, vote for candidates that can 'save' your life in an emergency. Vote for a change in the health care system. Shun the ruling 'umblerra' party .
It will be recalled that realty TV star Chidinma Mbalaso, 22, died after she had a car accident last month. She was admitted into a hospital that limited her chances of survival because there was no blood bank. The Health Minister should be able to tell the masses the amount of Nigerian hospitals that have blood banks. A list of hospitals without blood banks aka 'death traps' should be released for publication.
