Today is Mother’s Day. Ironically, it is not only for mothers. Why? If your wife, partner, girlfriend, concubine, mistress, ‘woman’ or whatever is pregnant she has a right to enjoy Mother’s Day too. There are lovely cards and presents for ‘Mother-to-be’ on Mother’s Day.
If you are a polygamist, it may be more practical to buy your wives similar presents in order to avoid a nagging procedure… There should be no nagging on Mother’s Day but it is impossible for a polygamist to love his wives equally. Common sense can save a lot of heartache.
'My Mother-In-Law' is a poem is by Danielle Lobito. It is not a 'mockery' of anybody's mum but mere fiction. At the last minute, I decided not to 'publish' Matthew Mahmood's love poem because it was 'long', romantic, 'alarming' and inappropriate for the day. Of course, Lobito and Mahmood 'write' for Aso Rocket News: ‘In-House Journal.’
MY MOTHER-IN-LAW
She’s the protective coat
My husband wears
‘I’ll tell Mama
I’ll tell Mama’
Is often heard
A threat to holy matrimony
She determines whether I produce
More eggs or pack and go
Never content
I wonder if she was once a wife
The old nag they say
But let’s put nagging out of the way
The ‘monarch’ is invincible
Since blood is thicker than water
She was once his platonic wife
Now, she has made me his ‘second’ wife
Armed with dogmatic criticism
The soothsayer
She knows why the house was
Out of order and risks to take
Her vain daughters; her guards
Their errands?
Just to keep her informed
For that foretells
She’ll soon arrive.
