‘Voodoo Boxing’: Ricky Burns v Joseph Laryea

WBO Super Featherweight Champion Ricky Burns

The voodoo battle is between the WBO super featherweight champion Ricky Burns and Ghanaian boxer Joseph Laryea. A Ghanaian witch doctor supporting Joseph Laryea, Okomfo Benin Gambaga reportedly sent a cursed pigeon to the 'training home' of Scottish Ricky Burns in order to make him lose the upcoming fight.

According to The Scottish Sun, 100 evil spirits are mandated to attack Burns 'in the ring' but a UK based voodoo practitioner, Doktor Snake intends to go the graveyard in order to reverse the spell. Is World Championship Boxing in a paranormal dimension? The audience may have to wait until the boxers fight on 12 March at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, to know the winner of the 'silent' voodoo duel.

Laryea initially accused Burns of disrespecting him in Scotland and wants an apology before he fights Burns in March. Burns is not ready to apologise and says all Laryea will get 'is a right hook’. Burns' trainer is optimistic that Burns will win the fight.

On the other hand, Laryea intends to win the fight by taking away the WBO super featherweight championship title from Burns in order to teach him a lesson. The next time you notice that a bird is constantly on your rooftop, what would you think? Mumbo Jumbo?

Why can’t Governor Jang Resign? (2)

Nigeria's former Deputy Senate President, Alhaji Ibrahim Mantu called for the removal of Governor Jonah David Jang of Plateau State and blamed him for the Jos – Bukuru massacres. At least someone is able to say the truth than keep mum.

Governor Jang has refused to resign. The Plateau State House of Assembly should have processed the impeachment of Jang by now. What are the legislators waiting for? Has God not 'blessed' Jang enough? Jang’s ‘crocodile tears’ flowed freely as he addressed protesting women, dressed in black, in Jos last week. Such tears are probably the sympathetic campaign for another four year rule.

Contrary to the former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye’s previous claim that a state of emergency would not stop the deadly crisis, Mantu told the Vanguard that an imposed state of emergency during Dariye’s tenure reduced the bloodbath.

The people of Plateau State should decide if they want Jang to govern them for another four years in the upcoming gubernatorial election. They should not be ‘hoodwinked’ by crocodile tears or allow religious sentiment to tamper with their way of reasoning at polling boots. After all, tears will not bring back the dead…
