Chatterbox: Can you tell me, who you think Nostradamus predicted, as the winner of 2008 presidential election in the United States? (27 October 2008)
Victor Baines: He predicted nobody – I predicted a democrat would win.
Democrat Barack Obama
'Michel de Nostredame (14 December 1503 or 21 December 1503[1] – 2 July 1566), usually Latinized to Nostradamus, was a French apothecary and reputed seer who published collections of prophecies that have since become famous worldwide. He is best known for his book Les Propheties (The Prophecies), the first edition of which appeared in 1555. Since the publication of this book, which has rarely been out of print since his death, Nostradamus has attracted an enthusiastic following who, along with the popular press, credits him with predicting many major world events’, Wikipedia.
[/align]The Nostradamus Society of America says he was born on 14 December 1503 and was of Jewish origin. The medical doctor and soothsayer who died 442 years ago was a poet. According to Jaron Summers, ‘Nostradamus wrote poems with four lines, quatrains’. One of his controversial poems was Quatrain 9-11 because it contained five instead of four lines or a stanza. In 1981, Erika Cheetham translated the 9-11 bombing from The Prophecies in the book, The Man Who Saw Tomorrrow.
Professor Ratabull at London School of Economics translated Quatrain 9-11. Keer-bing-a-Blst was the original word used for the Great Explosion which was later believed to be the (2001) 9-11 bombing of the WTC in the U.S.
Author Dr. Michael Rathford was heavily criticised online because of his World War III translation of The Prophecies.
In the past, critics of Nostradamus such as Dr. Grant C. Richison and James Randi maintained that he was far from accurate and called his prophecies a hoax yet interpreters of the quatrains are still speculating that the world will end in 2012 while a youtube documentary claimed that two-thirds of the world will be destroyed but the world will continue for another one thousand years. It was speculated that during World War III India will 'win' and another Asian country will lose.
Another controversial quatrain is Century II, Quatrain 62 because some self acclaimed interpreters speculated that the ‘Mabus’ mentioned ‘was’ the former Governor of Mississippi (1988-1992) and former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia (1994-1996) Raymond Edwin “Ray” Mabus and that either Barack Obama or Mabus was the third antichrist predicted by clairvoyant Nostradamus. Some members of a specific Christian denomination supported the conspiracy theory.
It must be understood that Nostradamus predicted three antichrists and Napoleon and Hitler were the first and second. Was Raymond Mabus paying a price because he endorsed (Obama) a black presidential candidate? Some paranormal analysts speculated that Mabus may become Obama’s advisor when Obama moves to the White House and he may be assassinated instead of Obama or vice versa. Mabus is presently a Democratic Party advisor. Before Obama chose Joe Biden as his running mate some online speculators thought Mabus would be his running mate and misinterpreted the quatrain.
Mabus then will soon die, there will come
Of people and beasts a horrible rout:
Then suddenly one will see vengeance,
Hundred, hand, thirst, hunger when the comet will run.
Century II, Quatrain 62
On the other hand, a blog titled PREDICTIONS believed that the Quatrain was misinterpreted and Nostradamus predicted that Obama will win the nomination but lose the elections to John McCain. ‘He’ backed his claims by quoting Century 6, Quatrain 96 which ‘says’ the elder one will win and McCain is older than Obama:
•»Par detracteur calumnié à puis nay.
Quand istront faicts enormes & martiaux:
La moindre part dubieuse à l'aisnay,
Et tost au regne seront faicts partiaux.«
(Nostradamus, Century 6 Quatrain 95)
•»By the detractor calumny (lodged) against the younger born.
When enormous and warlike
deeds will go on: The least part doubtful for
the elder one, and soon in the kingdom
there will be patrician deeds.« (Translation)[/B]
The McCain victory analysis did not speculate McCain as an antichrist and antichrists were war leaders like Napoleon and Hitler in the Quatrains. It will be recalled that Nostradamus called them Napaulon Roy and Hister. It was observed that Mabus was not part of the McCain victory analysis. Victor Baines of The Nostradamus Society of America was asked the following question last Monday (27 October, 2008).
Chatterbox: Can you tell me, who you think Nostradamus predicted, as the winner of 2008 presidential election in the United States?
Victor Baines: He predicted nobody – I predicted a democrat would win.
If Nostradamus predicted nobody then would it be right to disclaim the (2008 U.S. Presidential election) interpreters of the quatrains? The 56th consecutive quadrennial United States Presidential election will be held on November 4, 2008.
